MARKETING & PROMOTIONS

As Devon's only World Heritage Town, Tavistock offers the very best of the South West with an historic and vibrant town centre. Our aim is to position Tavistock as a unique and compelling destination, delivering focused marketing & PR activity that elevates the town's profile. We will strengthen recognition of Tavistock's offer while attracting more visitors throughout the year - encouraging increased footfall, higher spend and continued investment in the local economy. Here's how we do that: 

DESTINATION MARKETING - WWW.VISIT-TAVISTOCK.CO.UK
We manage the official brand for the town, with recent redevelopment of the website. Every levy paying business has a free listing worth £75. 

PR ACTIVITY - Flying the Flag for Tavistock
Our aim is to generate regular coverage of Tavistock on BBC Spotlight, ITV Westcountry and BBC Radio Devon along with articles in regional and national printed media.  

TAVISTOCK LOCAL APP
We develop and manage the town's official app, which includes a listing with £50 for each levy paying business. 

LOCAL MARKETING CAMPAIGNS
We create 'shop and eat' local campaigns encouraging residents to support local, using digital and traditional media. Most recently, we devised a Christmas Campaign - 'True Spirit of Christmas'.

SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS
We promote Tavistock further with posts, blogs, articles and competitions on social media. Recent posts have reached 56k visitors. 

MARKETING COLLABORATIONS
Engaging with other organisations is important in order to increase our audience - such as Visit Dartmoor, Dartmoor National Park, Visit South Devon, Visit Tamar Valley, Visit Devon & Visit Plymouth. 

COACH & GROUP TRAVEL
We promote Tavistock as a group travel destination and liaise with tour operators. We have devised our own group travel itineraries for distribution at trade shows, through our membership of Visit South Devon. We collaborate with Tavistock Town Council on the Coach Driver Initiative, offering rewards for companies bringing visitors to the town. 

TAVISTOCK GUIDE
In 2026, we produced 32,500 copies of the Official Town Guide for distribution across the region to accommodation providers and tourist offices. 

WELCOMING MOTORHOMES
Tavistock BID successfully lobbied for Motorhome Parking in the town and produced a leaflet which is distributed at local campsites and online. 

TOWN MERCHANDISE
We designed a series of Visit Tavistock merchandise that is available for sale at businesses in the town and online. 

TOWN TRAILS
In the current BID term, we have devised and delivered three new town trails: an interactive Heritage Trail; a green spaces trail 'Branch Out' and an Eat & Drink guide.  

NEW FOR THE FOURTH TERM

LOCAL BUSINESS DIRECTORY
Develop a Local Town Directory for new and existing residents. 

SOCIAL MEDIA
A social media drive to increase town awareness, promote our food offer and develop collaborations with other social media users. 

THE ABBEY PROJECT
Working alongside stakeholders, focus on increasing promotion of our World Heritage Status and on interpretation of the Abbey Project.  

BROWN SIGNS
Work to install essential 'brown signage' on key strategic routes to raise awareness of Tavistock as a worthwhile visitor destination.
