Tavistock BID has undertaken projects based on business need and demand – actively lobbied on issues important to you and your business, offered skills workshops and more…

Tavistock BID is committed to supporting the businesses in the BID area by working closely with stakeholders like West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Town Council to ensure that your voices are heard and to ensure that you play a key role in the future of the town centre. We have campaigned on your behalf to stop parking meters being installed on our streets and fought the challenges presented to the town by COVID-19.

FIGHTING YOUR CORNER
We advocate for you, providing a voice for the business community and lobbying on your behalf -
we fought against proposals for on-street parking charges and WON!
This support achieved a 'Community Project' Gold Award at the National BID Awards 2026.
We supported businesses during COVID-19 - spearheading the reopening of the town, lobbied against the Premier Inn proposal and asked for dedicated Motorhome parking.

TAVISTOCK GIFT CARD
We launched the Tavistock Gift Card to ensure local money is kept in the town and businesses benefit directly from the scheme.

WORKING PARTNERSHIPS
We work hard to cultivate good working relationships with Tavistock Town, West Devon Borough and Devon County Councils - ensuring Tavistock BID is a key strategic partner - establishing important local collaborations with the Town Council on Christmas Light installation; watering of the hanging baskets; assistance with Dickensian Evening and other issues regarding the town centre.

FIGHTING CRIME TOGETHER
We funded and manage the DISC Crime Reporting Scheme, which increases direct communication from your business to our local policing team on business crime and has consequently seen a reduction in incidents taking place.

SOUTH WEST BIDS
We are part of the South West BID Group which represents over 4,000 businesses in the region and is a powerful voice influencing the regional agenda.

In the BID's third term, we secured additional funding of circa £134k from various grants and sponsorship to bring extra value to your levy and assist with town centre initiatives.
