Last week Lisa, was busy preparing for a meeting with West Devon Borough Council. The Council, are proposing to raise car-parking tariffs in the town, as they have a revenue deficit of £180,000. Lisa has been investigating parking policy and law along with exploring other options for the council to raise money without increasing charges.
This week Lisa, attended the meeting and put forward a proposal to raise occupancy in the Riverside carpark as a way of generating additional income. The Council put forward four possible proposals all of which looked to increase prices at both long and short stay car parks by between 25% and 50%.
We are continuing to look at the data for coach visits to the town and are working on ways in which we can attract tour operators to visit Tavistock in the future.
