For those of you who may not have seen the update from last week: Happy New Year.
Street Ambassadors: we will shortly be assigning members of the BID Board to be Street Ambassadors throughout town. This will mean that levy payers have direct access to a Board Director on their street, as well as the BID Manager. We hope that this will continue to improve the ways that we communicate with you.
Hanging Baskets: we are in the process of getting quotes from various local companies for the provision of the town’s hanging baskets. We are looking to reduce the cost of the baskets this year but aim to continue with the current system of managing them. Further updates on this very shortly.
Advertising: we will be taking out an advert in the yearly Dartmoor Destination Guide.
Coaches: Information has come to light from coach drivers that they are facing a number of issues when they visit the town. Among these are access to the parking area and pick-up from opposite the Bedford Hotel. We have relayed these to WDBC. We would like to create a Dartmoor Itinerary for tour operators visiting the Torquay / Paignton area but need resolution to these logistical issues before we can do this.
Events: Plans have been finalised for the February half term, which will include a ‘Games on the Square’ day and craft workshops for adults or children. We are planning a ‘Paint the Town’ day on March 16th, to launch the Spring Festival. Local school children will create bright and cheerful garlands to go in window displays around town. We are hoping that many of you will be keen to support the initiative, hosting a garland and decorating your windows to bring colour to the town. We intend to promote this event regionally and hope it will bring in extra footfall in the lead up to Easter. Similar projects have been hugely successful in other BID areas. Please let us know if you will participate in this exciting new event. You can let us know using the following online form: https://jannasanders.typeform.com/to/I2lzRo
Business Offers: A reminder that we have a new ‘local offers’ page on the Visit-Tavistock website. This features any offers or events from levy paying businesses so please do send us yours. email@example.com
February Board Meeting: So far, we have received no declarations of interest in attending this meeting. This was something that was requested at the AGM so please do try and come along. It will be a good opportunity to give feedback on Dickensian, ideas for a separate light switch-on event for 2019 and to receive an update on the hanging baskets. If you would like to attend and if you have any items for the agenda, please let us know.
